Photography began for me as something simple. I never imagined it would become a career, or that it would grow into something that means so much to me.

I started by photographing my children. Then other people. Animals and birds. Planes passing overhead, flowers blooming, even the tiny bees I’d notice along the way. Somewhere in all of those ordinary little moments, I realized what I was really doing.

I was allowing time to stand still.

There is something so beautiful about a photograph. For just a moment, it can take you somewhere else. Back to the coffee you shared with Grandma, when one day that photograph becomes a piece of her you can still hold onto. Back to when your children were small enough to fit into your arms, even though somehow they’ve grown before your eyes. Back to a version of yourself you thought you had forgotten.

And there it is—a tiny photograph, quietly waiting to bring it all back.

Photography has taught me that our stories deserve to be remembered. It can be a way of embracing yourself exactly as you are, without ever having to say a word. The person you used to be. The person you are becoming. The softness, the strength, the changes, and every beautiful season in between.

I used to think taking a photograph was simply about creating something beautiful to hang on a wall.

Now I know it is so much more than that.

It is preserving the people we love.

It is remembering who we were.

It is holding onto the seasons that passed far too quickly.

Because someday, a photograph that feels ordinary today may become one of the most precious things you own.

That is why I photograph.

Not simply to capture what a moment looked like, but to preserve what it felt like—so that even when life moves forward, a little piece of that moment can stay with you forever.
